For those who are wondering what is Matka Kulfi, just know that it is something wonderful. Ah, my sweet cravings never stop. This afternoon I was with my brother and he knowing my affinity for sweets took me to a desi (Indian) ice cream parlour and bought me Matka Kulfi. The word Matka means earthen clay pot, and Kulfi is a traditional Indian ice cream made of milk, saffron, sugar and more.
As I was taking bites something unexpected happened, the earthen clay pot broke. Interesting, nothing happened to the ice cream as it was solid cold. The staff gave me another container to place my ice cream and I continued to enjoy the dessert.
Consciousness is like the solid ice cream. The container may break at any point but nothing happens to the spaciousness. While it seems that the space is contained inside the clay pot, in appearances, it is exactly the opposite. The clay pot is inside the spaciousness. Every occurrence is a reminder of who we are if we are aware enough.
We suffer only when we identify with something limited. I could have been upset about the broken clay pot, however, I focused on the Kulfi. Any why not? It’s delicious! 😉
With love,
Jagjot
