Meditation And The Subconscious Mind [Video]

Meditation is not merely for relaxation. It can penetrate the deepest layers of the mind (subconscious) and bring out the hidden aspects of personality to the conscious layer of the mind.

It is one reason why people fear meditation. Subconsciously we don’t like to unearth that which resides in the “shadow” depths of the mind. But till these hidden personality traits don’t come to light, complete healing is not possible.

In the following video recording of a live event, we explore how meditation affects the subconscious mind.

Today, we are going to talk about how meditation affects the subconscious mind. Now you know that the subconscious mind is that layer or dimension of the mind which is away from the conscious mind. Right?

The subconscious mind is very powerful because whatever we do, all our impulses, our drives in life, you know, most of it is dictated by the subconscious mind.

Our habits, our quirks, or whatever tiny habits we have are all basically part of the subconscious mind, including your thoughts about life, work, relationships, and more.

They all reside in your subconscious mind. Now sometimes, some (our thoughts) are positive, and some are negative. When I say positive or negative, what I mean is that some thoughts align with your beliefs, and some don’t.

Q. Mediation is not something that anyone I know in the United States does?

A. Oh, really? I don’t think so because I have spoken to a couple of people in the united states who actually do a lot of meditation, but I’m sure you might not have come across people who do it.

Meditation can be done in many ways. To elaborate a little on your statement, when you are painting or singing, or dancing, you achieve a flow state. Right? That in itself is in-part meditation.

The focus you achieve while you do that is because your mind becomes aware, and you know you’re completely absorbed in your craft, so if you’re painting, you’re completely engaged in it. 

You don’t notice time, or people around, even when you’re in a busy or chaotic environment. It doesn’t bother you because you’re so engrossed in the activity. So that in part is meditation.

But, if you want to go a little deeper into your own essence and know who you actually are, other than seeing yourself as desires and wants. Even if you want to know what holds you back from achieving your goals and desires, you need to understand your mind.

Especially your subconscious mind. As I told you earlier, the subconscious mind is very powerful. In fact, more than 90 percent of our mind is the subconscious mind. It dictates how we operate in this world with people and our interactions with them.

Most of our habits are programmed into the subconscious. Say, for example, one common thing that many people talk about is the presence of a strong inner critic in mind. All of us have it.

Whenever we try to do something, like working on goals for financial independence, building healthy relationships, etc., the inner critic stops us with its constant negative chattering. It’s extremely subtle, and you often don’t notice it, but it keeps running in the mind’s background.

Although low in volume, it keeps running, telling you that you’re not good enough, you don’t deserve it, and more. This message is continuously replayed in your mind. Right!
